About us

The BIU Center for Research in Applied Cryptography and Cyber Security was founded as part of a national program, sponsored in part by the Israel National Cyber Bureau in the Prime Minister’s Office. The primary aim of the center at Bar-Ilan University is to promote and carry out first class academic research in the fields of applied cryptography and cyber security, and to train graduate students to become the next generation of leaders in the field. The center also promotes collaboration with both industry and government on cutting-edge research questions.
The center is headed by Professors Yehuda Lindell and Benny Pinkas, and consists of faculty and students from the Computer Science, Mathematics and Computer Engineering departments. The main focus topics of the center are (a) applied cryptography, (b) applications of machine learning, artificial intelligence and natural language processing to cyber security, (c) hardware attacks and defenses, and (d) system and network security.
